No stores I know have the Audigy yet, but http://www.infonec.com (401/Hurontario in Mississauga) will have them by Wednesday Sept 17. I've already placed an order for an X-Gamer, and they suggest ordering beforehand as they'll sell like hotcakes...

I am definietely thinking of getting one, but apparantly there are better sound cards for 2 speaker setups - which is what I have.

Apparently, SB Live/Audy installs a plugin that causes deliberate problems with WinAmp. Read this today here.

Main problem:
Winamp cannot be maximized once it has been minimized to the tray

Other reported issues:
Sections of main Winamp window disappear
Scrollbar & time display no longer functioning
Causes memory and resource leaks
Crashes Winamp and freezes Windows

There should be an option in the plugins config screen to ban this evil plugin
Maybe with a further option to unban it if the user really wants to use it?
According to Creative Labs, it actually works for them, but I'm having none of it.
I'm still convinced this is a deliberate act of sabotage to make people ditch Winamp and use PlayCenter2/3 instead.

To remove this evil plugin:
Close Winamp, and go to x: \Program FilesWinampPlugins(where x: is your drive letter) and delete gen_nomad.dll from there. >>

I have a Sblive and I am wondering if I should go to audigy? I would like to have all the features it has, but I think I will have to keep this purchase off until 2002!

I ordered an OEM Audigy for $70 from NewEgg.com on Sunday and it'll be here by wednsday.

I must admit being nervous about buying it. I have little faith in them for not fixing the VIA/SBLive problem as it occurs in the Audigy as well. My K 7 Master doesn't seem to have any problems though. But it's the idea that it seems that they don't give a Darn. Thanx for the Winamp tip too...it is what I use. Plus the live update that Creative installs is the first thing I delete.

But ultimately I hear it sounds real nice...we will see.
