Anyone know when the Asus P4S533 mobo will be available?

My best guess is sometime in May, when the P4B's start to appear.

The P4S333 is a fine board, so the P4S533 (DX version) should really rock.

AFAIC, the only problem with the SiS645 and 645DX boards is that you are restricted to a max of 4 banks of PC2700. 🙁

That's not just a SiS645 issue, that's the case with most (if not all) DDR chipsets!

is that going to be pc1066, hence the 533 chipset? sorry for a stupid question, but ya know, everyone has to learn sometime

pc1066 is related to rdram and therefor not compatable with this ddr-sdram shipset....

533 is the p4 fsb chips it will be running...

p4a's were quad pumped 4x100fsb for 400fsb....

p4b's will be quad pumped 4x133fsb for 533fsb...

asus p4s333, the first sis645 board listed the main selling point of this board and chipset being the 333mhz memory capability...ie pc2700...asus board p4s533 is touting the new p4 cpu speed...

the dx will likely not be a huge upgrade from current p4s333 board were many have chips running at 133fsb anyways...asus has even given it support for 533fsb chips...it hasn't marketed this because they want you to buy a new board though the older one can handle it....It is likely they revamped the bios, and I know they offer more mem ratios capable of 400mhz ddr at 133fsb default speed...

666fsb!!!! That would be a beast of a system...😉 One could have a devil of a time with it....😉 I guess the evil intel would make sense at that point.....

...according to T-Break's Forum, it looks like it will be a couple weeks before the P4S533 will hit the shelves...😉
BTW, anyone have an opinion on whether i should wait for the P4S533 or go with the P4T-E???

well one is rdram platform (asus p4t-e) and the other is ddr-sdram....the ddr according to the bios looks like it is supporting 400mhz ddr or pc3200....

The rdram and ddr are fundamentally different....so the opinion should be yours as to the type of memory system you perfer...

Also I believe from reports the p4t-e only lets you go up to 133 in the softmenu of the bios...otherwise you have to do some jumpers and have certain speeds you can go for....not very option rich in my opinion...

I heard at the local shop that the P4S533 will feature USB 2.0.

But I can't find any truth to that anywhere on Asus's product pages - which you'd think would be a prominent selling feature if it had it.

Has anyone heard or know anything about that?

Go P4T-E. Everyone talks about P4S533's DDR400 support, but what people don't realize is that Performance increase from DDR400 is minimal (>2% except in games where it's closer to 5%). The reason for this is that for DDR, as frequency increases, Latency increases. And really, to be frank, DDR400 I feel is pointless. And to add, PC1066 RDRAm when on a 533fsb has latency close to that of PC2100 DDR, and PC1066 with 533fsb will beat any DDR platform. So I say go for a Abit Th7II or P4T-E now (make sure you get clock generators that can go to PC1066). You won't be sorry!

Even if it is wiser to go with an existing RAMBUS board such as the P4T-E or TH7II (and I'm not too sure about that), I say wait until May when the 533FSB versions are to be released, because the prices on the old boards will plummet. 😉

Look again. None of those are the 533FSB versions of RAMBUS boards (P4T-533 / TH7III ?). They won't be out until mid-late May.

called atacom and they dont have it. they expecting it to come next week so he said to call by the end of next week. i saw a guy on ebay thats sellin it and there is noway that guy got it. noway.
