--Anyone know when Sata II raptors are coming out?--

I'm waiting for the Sata II raptors before upgrading my HD. I haven't heard anything about them yet however.

Also, does anyone know if harddrive performance affects your 3dmark05 score? Or is that all about cpu, memory, fsb/htt, and vid card?

raptors are a waste dont get one.

How does someone with almost 1500 posts spout off that ATA-150 is SATA 2? Raptors have their uses, and I doubt you will find many owners who feel that it is a waste.

Sigh,

The ones that dont have them are the ones that hate them...

Same story.

They won't transfer data any faster, because from what I can tell, the Raptor isn't bottlenecked by the SATA 1 interface right now. However, changes in the hardware and/or firmware of the drive might result in other performance improvements not related to the move to SATA 2.

SATA II 300mb is the new interface standard that will become benificial in the future, but none of the current drives come close to saturating the current 150mb SATA buss. I have two 74gb raptors in a RAID0 array (fastest access you can get currently) and my peak throughput is around 125mb. The current SATAII drives are a marketing joke, because they don't run any faster than regular SATA drives. The first drives to truly benifit from SATAII will likely be 15-20k rpm enterprize class drives (RaptorII ?)

Fool.

For those like myself who already have spent a couple thousand in my system, decreasing the biggest bottleneck (the hard drive) only makes sense.

For those on a budjet, a Raptor doesn't make sense.

But they have their place.
