I never heard of indoor cats living longer...it may be true...but I feel bad for him all cooped up in this place all day. Does that average include cats that are run over, etc. or just cats who die natural deaths?

word.....an outdoor cat may live a shorter life possibly...but it's much merrier if you ask me.

LMAO at all these people making it sound like putting your cat outdoors = murder. My whole life we've had outdoor cats, they've been happier, they had good lives, and they all had long lives. They didn't destroy neighbors property...or destroy the environment. Seriously, some of you people sound like you're 1 step away from blaming outdoor cats for global warming.

All of our outdoor cats lived at least 10 years.....

There are no endangered birds around here...he might kill a freaking dove or pigeon or something...

I have a 3-Bedroom, 2-Bathroom apartment. It's a decently large space for a cat...I have as much space as some small homes do. Imagine if you yourself were only allowed inside one city block and couldn't get beyond it...you could see what was out there but were not allowed to be outside that area....kinda depressing eh? I let him out so that he can enjoy himself more - cats were not meant to be kept cooped up indoors all their lives. They should be allowed to go outside and hunt and explore and live a more full life.

And...that statement makes no sense. My cat is loved and cared for - he has all the food and attention he needs, he has toys, he has all his shots and if he ever should need it will have a vet to take care of him.

The WHOLE REASON I have this cat is because probably some moron like you decided they didn't want it - they dumped him off poorly fed and cared for and maybe hoped "he would be shot on sight" but I took him in and gave him food and a place to live. So shut your mouth.
