the website used to be http://www.oot2d.com but it no longer works 🙁

the project was someone converting the N64 Zelda game into a 2D adventure zelda game. it had a lot of progress but i dont know where it went! anyone know?

I don't enjoy playing games anymore because they're all in 3D now. 🙁 When the Sega Saturn came out, with Sonic 3D, I thought that was the worst and most boring game ever. All of those Mario games for the Nintendo 64 were equally boring.

The absolutely best game ever is Zelda: Link to the Past. Great graphics, great sounds, great maps, great storyline, and all in 2D. 😀

remember when 3d games first came out? boy were they terrible. I remember a star wars RTS that was 3d, man did it suck!!!!!! They have gotten alot better tho. But, for RTS's they really have no point, being able to rotate around the unit and change your view really accomplishes nothing. I thought Ocarina of Time was a good game myself.... decent 3d one

Games in general have sacrificed overall quality (story, gameplay, etc.) for flashier graphics. Pretty lame. I mean I would like another side scrolling adventure akin to Sonic or Super Mario World myself.

What platform is this for? PC? N64?

it was being developed for PC.

it had the graphics from the SNES Link to the Past, but the whole game was being made to follow the story of OOT.

i agree with your zelda comment %100 🙂

however, mario 64 was revolutionary for its time. the zelda on N64 i also loved! but not like the SNES one.

Revolutionary how? Because of the vector graphics engine. But the game play itself wasn't that great. I found myself getting frustrated over the camera angles that were bothersome to control. Had the camera angle been more of a stationary position above and behind Mario, with toggles to look left and right, that would have been cool. But not so...

it was revolutionary because it was ( i believe ) the first full 3d platformer. not to mention the gameplay was just all out fun. i had so much fun playing it in toys r us a month before it was up for sale. the N64 is the reason i got my first job at 14 years old heh, so i could buy it 😛

heh and dude, i dont think there are ANY 3D platformers where the camera is NEVER a problem. that comes with the territory. however I think mario 64 did a great job with it, especially for not having a 2nd analogue stick to control it with.

Nobody here liked the latest Zelda for the Gamecube (Wind Waker)? I thought it was pretty good. Games have lost some of their fun in the change over to 3d, though, I agree with that. Maybe we're just remembering our childhood as having a better time?

Agreed. Link to the Past > all other Zelda games.

Ocarina of Time for N64 is better. Better story, great graphics for the time, a good combat system, a friggin horse, and great characters that I actually felt for.

Games would suck without evolution. Super Mario Brothers 1 - 3 were all great, but when Mario 64 came out it ushered in a whole new era of gaming and remains to this day one of my favorite games of all time. Zelda OoT was also great and ranks up there but I agree, LttP was the best zelda game made (Majora's Mask I never really got hooked into for some reason). In any event, Sonic belongs in 2d and all 3d versions of him have been less good. 😉

My Zelda Order: Link to the Past > Ocarina of Time > Wind Waker > Oracle of Ages/Seasons > Zelda > Adventure of Link > Majoras Mask
My Mario Order: Mario 64 > Super Mario World > Mario Sunshine > Mario 3 > Mario 2 > Mario 1

fixed to my catering 🙂

super mario world 2 was the best looking 2D platformer ever developed. The animations were a work of art =)
