When i shut my Fujitsu laptop down..I get an error message that Apusbpnp needs to be ended?

I am running winxp pro..I have checked task manager and no program with this name is running..I have searched my HDD and can not find it...I have search google and get a bunch of jap links but no real help..I have search MS site as well

any ideas...very annoying to have to wait for the message to come in order to shut my laptop down?

thanks

Yes I typically use a usb wireless mouse, usb audio device..andrea sound pod for voice recognition

I also use usb connected printers..I have left every device connected thinking this could be the issue and then shutdown...still pops up

Generally, leaving the DEVICES connected would cause the
problem, not the other way around.

Have you tried disconnecting the USB devices one at a time
to see if the ERROR occurs (leaving them unplugged as you go)?

Have you checked the EVENT LOG for any clues?

We ran into the same problem with our Fujitsu Lifebook Bseries. The problem ended up being caused by the alps pointing device driver having some kind of conflict with something in our security policy. We eliminated the problem by removing the alps pointing device driver and using a standard MS driver for the touch pad.

well as it turns out the n5010 has a built in memory card reader and I disabled smart card and smart card help via msconfig services tab...when I re checked these the end program dialog box went away

BTW I did try turning off the alps point device but did not uninstall the driver...

Also do you have a problem with the cursor jumping around on the B series...seems to occur alot with N series..I have updated the touchpad drivers as suggested by tech support ...I use a wireless mouse with a setting that if mouse is connected the touchpad is not active....I wonder if I go to generic MS drivers if this will go away....

Does the generic MS driver allow one to use the touchpad in an auto detect setting so that if my mouse batteries fail or I forget to connect it the touchpad works then

How bizarre. We haven't experienced the problem. with the cursor jumping around. We have very few options available with the MS driver, so I'm not sure if you will still get the functionality you need.

the interesting thing is I know at least one othe N series user with the same complaints...my concern is if my mouse batteries die, with no spare around(the way it always work) I will be SOL

Hmm..may need to dump the driver and see what happens ..I can always reinstall it
