Anyone know what alexa (some type of data mining crap) does?

I received an email from microsft support (so said the from header) about a screensaver. The file appeared as a .pif file but was actually just a shortcut. I loaded it up on an unprotected test box and sure enough adware then detected a data mining program had been installed. What type of info does this crap of software want? history, cookies, etc?

Also, are there any good programs for deciphering email headers? I've got groupwise and don't see the same options to view email headers as outlook.

Look HERE immediately. If this is the same case, there is a virus going around.

Yeh, thats the one. I must have missed that post. There is no anti virus on that box and I just ran adaware which found the alexa crap. Maybe its good we run groupwise at work, because I can see a number of people opening up something from microsoft.

Since you don't seem to be that proficient in GroupWise, to view the header:

1. Open up the e-mail in question.
2. Click File -> Attachments -> View
3. Open the attachment called "Mime.822".

Voila!
