you have to be 18, and have a credit card. (or check card, or something so they can bill you automatically when you forget to return movies after 2 weeks.)

You're living in your own apartment, paying your own bills, and you're wondering if you qualify for a BLOCKBUSTER card?

No, I'm not wondering if I qualify, I'm wondering what it requires. Imagine I were to go to blockbuster with just my driver's license and didn't bring a credit card. They'd tell me to go home and get it, and then I'd have to make two trips. That would be a waste of time.

yeah, a Major credit card too, a debit bank card isn't enough.

I guess it depends on the check card. I dont have a credit card, by my check card has the little visa logo on it, and that was enough for me to get a blockbuster membership

You don't carry your credit card in your wallet?

2 forms of ID and a CC if you don't want to put down a safety deposit. I worked there, and that information is correct.

I guess bringing a CC just to be safe _would_ be a lot of trouble...

I was told by my local Blockbuster that I MUST have A DL/ID and either a CC or a water bill, electric bill, etc in my name.

Is a credit card required to become a member?
The BLOCKBUSTER membership application requests a credit card number as security for the account and as a secondary form of identification. If a member does not furnish a credit card, other acceptable forms of secondary identification include a voter registration card or a recent utility bill.

Actually, I don't know of any store that follows the policy handed down by some dumb@ss at BB corporate. A valid, government issued picture ID and a major credit card (some stores will take a debit w/visa or mc logo) or a recently paid utility bill (w/address matching addy on ID) will get you membership card. No store in their right mind would let someone rent hundreds of dollars of DVD's or games w/o a away to get that money back if those rentals never get returned (either via a charge to their CC or a collections agency sending a letter to their front door).
