Anyone know the name of this piece of music?

Seriously, no baroque/classical/romantic composer composed anything close to this, regardless of the instrumentation/orchestration.

It sounds like something from a DDR or movie soundtrack.

I think it's "Summer: Summer Overture" from the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack.

*edit*

either winter or summer overture...by listening to previews I can't really tell.

the music is indeed inspired by pieces from the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack. It was re-recorded/orchestrated for the "special" trailer for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

To view the trailer and hear the piece, go here http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=lordoftheringstrilogy
scroll down to Two Towers and select "Special Preview Bootleg." The music you're looking for starts at around 2:06

i have the full piece in mp3 somewhere. i'll put it up if i can find it.

It might be sampled from the second half of "Winter: Lux Aeterna" on the same album (Requiem for a Dream, Soundtrack). Summer Overture and Winter: Lux Aeterna are basically the same song, but performed differently:

That was my first thought as well, but it doesn't have the driving backbeat as the ytmnd one. The Lord of the Rings version sounds like the closest one so far.

Whoever did the ytmnd site might have also sampled that music directly from the movie DVD. It's common for soundtrack CDs to contain slightly different mixes of the same music, which may or may not be made available elsewhere.

Good luck!😀

Here's the news bit from way back when from one of Clint Mansell's main(?) fansites
http://www.clintatthecontrols.com/learn/041002.html

The piece was only used for that particular trailer and was not included in the movie or any other (LotR) trailers.

It is also on the King Arthur (2004) tv spot titled "One" as well as the commercial for the unrated DVD.

It's credited as ["Requiem for a Tower" - Simone Benyacar / Dan Nielsen / Veigar Mairgersson - Based on "Requiem for a Dream" by Clint Mansell]

Here's the remix. This was fan made using bits from requiem for a dream OST and TTT trailer above. (and this is why you always backup data in an orderly manner 😀)

Thanks for the input guys, I was looking this up for a friend and he kept arguing it was classical, I said it was orchaestral, I suppose I was right.

🙂
