Enough of this legal mumbo jumbo! Someone tell me what it means in 5 or less sentances with no words over 4 syllables.

Is it just me, or do people really need to grow up?

The late fee schedule is very clearly defined, as are the due dates:

Two day rentals: Noon on the third day.
Five day rentals: Noon on the sixth day.

If you go past that, you rented it again. Simple, yes?

Then why must people sue?

Because they don't want to be responsible for their own actions.

Viper, I think the point of the suit was that Blockbuster charged exorbitant late fees, not that they charged them in general - sort of like when the furniture rental places got sued for their outrageous interest fees a few years ago. And although I've never rented from them, I've heard others say Blockbuster also had a habit of charging you late fees even though you returned your movies on time.

I think the problem may be they tell you it is due back at a certain day, but never tell you the actual fee. And it may not be posted at the counter. I've never seen the late fees posted on the counter in plain view.

I got screwed a couple times by them on their late fee BS. I rented two playstation games, returned both at the same time and when I went to rent another game a couple days later, I got charged with a late fee on ONE of the two games I returned. WTF is up with that. Both games were returned on the day I was supposed to. Yet I got a late fee on just one of the games. I haven't gone back there since. Stupid place.

i had the same experience with them gandalf511 and i rented ladies man(movie kinda sucked) and about 4-5 hours later i returned it and like a week later they said we returned it like 3 days late and they wouldn't listen to us it pissed me off so much so now i get nice 99cent (everyday)dvd rentals at albertsons haven't had a problem with them and the dvds are still fine.....lower selection but they still have the basic good titles(or new releases) there

What was REALLY bad is when they changed to due at noon from due at midnight after years of advertising just that. Go rent a movie, they say "it's due on tuesday". You return it tuesday after dinner and they say, "that will be $5"..... WTF? At least the movie companies are starting to back pay per view, should be a lot better soon.

Actually, the suit involves the time period before the new late fee policy was inacted. Their employees aren't very good about getting movies checked in on time. If I'm turning something in right before it is due, I am sure to bring it inside and hand it to someone and say "This is due at noon, so I wanted to make sure it got checked in."

Anyway, I'm expecting to be in their top teir when the settlement finishes. The settlement is for a bunch of free rentals, and cash vouchers for things like candy, popcorn, and drinks. Pretty sweet deal.

My experience with Blockbuster is that some of the movie boxes that are marked as 5 day rentals check out as 2 day rentals at the register and the only way to confirm was to look at the receipt.

This happens near the time a movie is about to change from a 2 day rental to a 5 day rental so by the time you complain about it, the computer already has it as a 5 day rental and you've got no proof that the box said 5 days at the time you rented it.

I ended up pulling a couple 5 day rentals off the shelf and checking them at the register and some of them were in the system as 2 day rentals.

What a scam...

They've screwed me before. I don't complain about the late fees if I bring a movie back late-----the fee schedule although expensive, is defined.

However, I can't tell you how many times I've taken a movie back @ like 11:45, or 12:00, taken it inside and handed it to the guy, and said, this is due today, only to get charged late fees.

I don't rend from them anymore. I got Netflix, and am pretty happy with that.

I'm glad that BB is getting the heat for their bullying tactic.

Apparently I owe BB $22.00CAD for a late movie that I returned one day late. I called the store after a late notification letter were sent to my home, and the ignorance store manager told me that the letter were sent to me automatically by computer and I can?t do anything about it. I was furious that they are going to charge my credit card with out my authorization because I have not gone in the store to cough up the money. They claimed that by signing the membership agreement I have giving them the right to charge my credit card, and I told them that I would rather paid more money just to fight their ignorance strong-arm injustice. If the time come I?ll paid my bank $50.00 to cancel the charge and let the credit card people deal with them.
