Ok when you look at the Dell inspiron 9400 and E1705 they look like they are the same laptop. To only different I can see it the 1705 id for "home" use and the 9400 is for "business" use.

Any ideas? What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

I read somewhere that in the US it's called the E1705, and in Europe, the 9400. Same unit.

Thanks but both are "US" models. One is sold on the Home side of Dell the other on the business side.

Thanks for the input though.

Also anyone have any thoughs about the price of $2,036.00 for it with the dual 2GHz processors and 7800 video card. I kept the default battery but added a 9 cell one as a spare. Also the DVD burner, spare XP Home CD and bluetooth.

Seems as though people are havin problems with Duo and USB something about a powermgt issue. Also keep in mind that the 7800 isn't the GTX modle just the reg one.

I've noticed Dell will frequently change their models (especially notebook models). It's all hype. If you look closely, they use the same basic chassis for each one but just change the colors. Most of them contain the same hardware to some extent.

My recommendation is to configure all of the models and choose the one that's best for the buck. In general, it's best to go mid-range within a given model type. That means if you end up maxing out an Inspiron 6000, bump up to the Inspiron 9300. If you can barely afford the Inspiron 9300 and give it a minimul config, go down to a mid-range Inspiron 6000 (or whatever the next model down is).

One thing i did think of was that most of the time the business side doesn't get coupons.
