Anyone know the definitive answer on Samsung's dead pixel policy for the USA?

I've seen several computer news sites announcing samsung's new dead pixel policy, which started on january 1st.. apparently they'll replace any screen with 1 or more dead pixels..

However, then I saw another link which suggested this is only applicable in Korea.
Samsung's website states that it's around 8 dead pixels for a 17-19" LCD before it will qualify for replacement, though I suppose this could be out of date information.

Does anyone know what the real deal is with this? Alternatively, I heard monitorsdirect.com offered a zero tolerance dead pixel replacement too, although their website seems to be down.. anyone know of another retailer who offers this?

thanks

Awesome, thanks :)

Am I correct in thinking that you deal directly with Samsung for a replacement?

Also do you know whether it only applies to 2005 and onward screens? Or does it apply to any screen purchased after jan 1st 2005?

many thanks again!

I would try to buy it at a non-online retailer if possible (staples, best buy, etc.). They will more than likely take it back if you complain enough despite the actual policy.
