Anyone know plumbing and sewer system stuff?

Last night, I noticed something.... I was doing laundry and my washer was finished with the wash cycle...it was draining the soapy water out and I could hear a gurgling sound coming from my kitchen sink. The sound was distinct....it sounded like air bubbles being forced through the trap.

This morning, I flushed the toilet in the bathroom and while I was washing my hands, I could hear air bubbles coming through the trap in that sink as well.

This just started yesterday....I'm wondering if I have a clog somewhere on my sewage line, but was wondering if something like rid-x or drano would work to help clear the lines since water is going down the pipes. I just don't feel like getting a snake and clearing them that way if I can help it. I haven't smelled anything foul and there haven't been any backups...just bubbles. Thanks-

Hmm...could be....but since I've heard the sound through 2 sinks, it makes me wonder. Each of them have their own vents since one is in the kitchen and one is in the bathroom about 30 feet away.

Do they connect to a common vent? Or each go through the roof individually?
If the latter ... I got nothing.

Yep....there's actually a total of 3 vents for the 2 systems. 1 vent services the kitchen sink, dishwasher, and laundry. The second vent is for the toilet and shower, while the bathroom sink has its own vent because it's the last line to dump into the line before it goes to the street.

I may have to check the roof and see if something could be blocking multiple vents up there...? Maybe migrating birds decided to roost? :p

i had this problem too and it ended up being the vent. I went up on the roof and poured a little water down it. This fixed the problem.

Plumbing is a series of tubes (sorry). They all connect to one another. It's not uncommon to hear water usage in other parts of the house.
