Yea, I guess windex'ing down the sofa is fun, or protection from the elements during times of couch like events.

it's only in asian households i've seen it in...

my mom only covered the chairs at the dining table in case anyone ever dropped anything.

I don't understand. why not just get plastic chairs? ...the plastic coverings defeat the purpose of the apholstery.

when i buy something i intend to use it...

my friends mom used to have thoe couches and we used to call them the fart couches cuz of the noise they make when u sit or move around in them

My grandmother has a couch that she doesn't let people sit on, its covered in plastic, and it just sits there in the room. Crazy.

I grew up in a house that had plastic on the furniture. A couple years after I moved out, my mother got new furniture and gave me her old stuff. It was about twelve years old, but looked brand new. The first thing I did was remove the plastic. I lived in a party house at the time with three other guys. We trashed that furniture in about a week between the beer and bong water and somebody always laying on the couch.

this is precisely the reason why people cover their furniture with plastic.
