Anyone know of software that records TV to hard drive?

lol.

All of ati's tv cards come w/ software to record straight MPG's. Free w/ an ATI TV Card (it's what I use, and works fine)

Actually, TIVO is software----it's all linux based.

But...to really answer your question....no other then showshifter, and the free products w/ tv cards or AIW cards....no I don't know of any.

Did you check out sourceforge?

If you have a linux box, there's a couple free programs that look pretty slick. One is called FreeVo, the other's name escapes me. They're both on Sourceforge though, so you might check there.

If you don't have linux, no, there's no way to get them working under Windows.

if you have a capture card it usually has a tv capture software.

The wintv had crappy capture software for tv.

The winfast 2000 cards have great capture software bundled, very easy to use.

There are other capture software out there like "powervcr" you have to buy them though.

good luck
