free computer parts from big companies? i have a friend who works at an IT company, and she got a WHOLE lot of computers which they didn't need anymore, mainly compaq's and Sun servers(free!) now i'd go to see if my dad's company had anything they didn't need, but they lease from Dell now, and gave all of the old stuff to schools. and i'll take anything, so long as they work(more or less) like RMA'd motherboards, especially socket 7(can put in a few K6-2+ or K6-3's) and such. i want to build a few low end crack racks, and maybe if i get a couple good components, set it up with the 3 computers i have now(soon to be 4) and make a little LAN for my friends and i. anyone know anywhere i can get stuff like this? especially in the Ottawa/Montreal areas?
i'd appreciate any advice i can get
still waiting for the money to build my first system, it would be nice to have a few low cost boxes to practise on before i mess around with the parts i buy
