Anyone know of any highly magnified CPU core pictures?

I've seen lots of pictures of cores, I'm just curious to know if there are any pictures that are zoomed in enough to make out the individual transistors.

Unlikely, since the transistors are underneath the 10+ layers of metal, in addition to overglass and other stuff. Maybe if the chip was unfinished.

EDIT: Actually I take that back, I have a pic somewhere of a simple chip we fabbed in a class where you can see the individual transistors. I can take a pic of it if you really want. The photograph might have been taken before the metal was deposited.

I'd love to see it if you have it.

I have pictures. You can't see individual transistors, though, it's just a picture of the die at 1600x1000

Alright, here is a scan of a pic that was taken of one of our unfinished dies with a microscope:

chip_pic.JPG

The white lines are metal, and the outlined boxes that are arranged in rows are the contacts of the transistors. The dark lines running down the center of each transistor are the gates.

Looks like the LI metal was just done.
