just a matter of taking off the cover, then regular dvds should fit.

My roommate modded his gamecube to play Japanese games. I think it just involve soldering a wire or two to connect a couple points. If you add a switch in between, you can turn the mod on and off to switch between Japanese and American modes.

It's the entire case, not just the top cover that needs to be removed.
