Something like an empty Snap server or something?

I have seen thigns that allow you to use multiple drives externally using SATA but my box doesn't have that and I don't have a PCI slot available for a card:(

Basically, I just want to take the HDs out of the box (SFF) but don't want a billion external bays...

Basically I must just get one of those linksys adapters found HERE and then wire a cable somewhere far away. My stupid maxtor drives are so damn loud comapred to my seagates.

Studying and/or listening to music is annoying as hell with all those jets running:|

I would set up a true NAs using an old box but everythign I have is a POS without USB2 or whatever:(

Acutally, I do have a 500mhz PIII that I can put a PCI USB2 card into and jsut plug in the drives to it 50ft away where I can't here it

HA! I'm a genius:p

I think I'm gonna turn this Dell someone gave me into a NAS, I have a 10 GB drive I could use for Windows (or Linux if I'm ballsy enough to install it and f around with it)

basically same here.... I want to use gentoo or something but IIRC they new kernel didn't do much to address NTFS write capabilities, no?

Probably just win2k or something

I want to take everything out but a 400GB seagate.

So somehow I will have to fit a 300, a 250, a 200, and a 120 into an HP vectra:p ..I don't have enclosures for all my drives....jsut two:( (one of my enclosures went bad:()

I'm in a similar situation as you but I'm too lazy to install configure a linux based solution. I want a easy flash based NAS specific OS with a web interface.
