I know my prescription, since my research advisor is an ophthalmologist and gives me free exams. However, he's not an optometrist and the online sites don't list him because of that. I've been looking for such a site for the last few weeks too... I think we need to go foreign!Originally posted by: BAMAVOO
Why would you want to do that? It is not that much more $$$ to make sure you have the correct prescription.
Liability reasons. If you get the wrong prescription and run someone over with your car because you can't see, then you could turn around and sue the place that sold you the lenses. Stupid, but there it is.Originally posted by: FrankyJunior
Why do contact people even care if you order the right prescription or not? Not their fault if you don't know your own prescription or type in something wrong.
Thanks! Now I'll be able to see when it's raining.Originally posted by: davew0670

Here's a tip: go to the eye doctor and get a new prescription. Strange things can happen to your eyes that you don't even know about. Happened to me.
Edit: 1800-contacts started verifying prescriptions over a year ago. I know they verified mine as far back as 2004. They probably tried to verifiy yours, but the doctor didn't respond within the time limit.

I did get a new prescription but it is only valid for glasses. They wouldn't write it for contact lenses without a $80 'fitting fee'. They can bite me.
