Anyone know of any contact lens providers that don't verify your prescription?

Why would you want to do that? It is not that much more $$$ to make sure you have the correct prescription.

I know my prescription, since my research advisor is an ophthalmologist and gives me free exams. However, he's not an optometrist and the online sites don't list him because of that. I've been looking for such a site for the last few weeks too... I think we need to go foreign!

I was going to say 1800contacts, but I guess that's not valid anymore. 🙂

I'm hoping to get PRK surgery this summer so I can avoid buying any more glasses or contacts!

In my experience at a couple of the online contacts places, they make a "good faith" effort to get ahold of the doc. if they can't, they ship them anyways....

Here's a tip: go to the eye doctor and get a new prescription. Strange things can happen to your eyes that you don't even know about. Happened to me.

Edit: 1800-contacts started verifying prescriptions over a year ago. I know they verified mine as far back as 2004. They probably tried to verifiy yours, but the doctor didn't respond within the time limit.

Why do contact people even care if you order the right prescription or not? Not their fault if you don't know your own prescription or type in something wrong.

Liability reasons. If you get the wrong prescription and run someone over with your car because you can't see, then you could turn around and sue the place that sold you the lenses. Stupid, but there it is.

Thanks! Now I'll be able to see when it's raining. 😛

I did get a new prescription but it is only valid for glasses. They wouldn't write it for contact lenses without a $80 'fitting fee'. They can bite me.

That is crap, the Optimistrist I go to, charges $40 for eye exam and $20 for contact lense fitting, so $60 total for both. I have insurance so I only pay $20 total for both.

My doctor told me not to comeback for two years. Due to my prescription not changing in the last 3 years. However, the stores want a 1 year old prescription or less.
