My 92 accord is about dead and I would like to get a few more months out of it before I have to bite the bullet and get a new car. It's got 180k on it and needs a quality tuneup ASAP!

Major concerns are:

Automatc shifter doesn't move from park with out depressing the shift lock mechanism, so I have a knife jabbed in there.

loose about 3 qts of oil per month, and it is loosing more by the day.

Flex pipe on the exhaust is shot, so I now have a ricey sound and feel like I'm in Too Fast and too Furious everytime I drive.

I think it's gonna take more than a tune up for that car. I used to live in Solon, though, and we used to go to the Marathon station on the corner of Solon Blvd. and Aurora Road for our old Toyota.

if you are losing that much oil your engine is done...
unless you don't have the drain plug back in 🙂

sure you could fix it... but it'll be cheaper in the long run to just get a new car...

Well, I guess I should have said major tune up. I used to know a guy who was a mechanic at a local Honda dealer who worked out of his house on the weekends and he took care of my car for several years, then he got hurt in an accident and was no longer able to work on cars. He was great, everything was at least half of what a dealer charged and he would often get everything done right away.

Funny you say that....about a month ago a Firestone tire center didn't tighten it up enough and everything spilled out. Ever since then it has been buring way more oil than it used to. I should have sued the bastards....

then are you sure it's in right??? Maybe the striped it and oil is leaking out? That would not be hard to fix at all.

Yea, its in there. No leakage/puddles of oil since. It's all coming out the pipe, especially when I'm getting on the on ramp. I see little puffs of smoke when ever it shifts.

I'm looking at getting a newer accord or prelude, so if you see any good deals let me know. I'm leaning more towards the prelude because I have always wanted one. I'm looking at dropping about 10-15k unless you all can talk me into a new car.

I happen to live in NE Ohio but I can't help you out.

Spent too much time the FS/FT forum so here is a free bump 😉
