Anyone know of a good guide on setting up RAID?

Well I guess I assumed that you'd be using a newer motherboard that had RAID integrated into the chipset... So I guess you're using an add-in RAID controller?

I'm still looking into what I will need.

Particularly RAID 4 or 5 but others also.

Thanks in advance

What are you wanting to do with this array? That will determine what RAID level is best for you. There is no "perfect" RAID setup for everyone - they are all tradeoffs to optimize the array for a particular usage. Knowing what your intended use will be is critical to selecting an array type.

For example, I use a RAID 3 array for my media server. A lot of people use RAID 5 because it is more common, but it is not really the best for that application. RAID 3 is basically striping with a parity drive, so it excels at reading large files, but there is a performance hit when writing or accessing smaller files. So for me, it is the perfect fit, but for say a network file server or database server, it would probably be an abysmal choice.
