Anyone know of a good book/online reference regarding phone architecture?

I'd like to have some kind of a reference handy. By "phone architecture", I mean going over the architecture of POTS, different cable types, different jack types (rj-11, rj-14, etc.), pbx's, switches, ad nauseum.
