I'd like to make use of this unused FW800 port on my powerbook, and try to expand my overhead while using external hard drives simultaneously with my firewire webcam. it'd be cool if it also had usb2 ports on it, but I'm really just looking for the firewire.
 
Have you looked for such on Newegg, etc.? I'll withold the "D" word 'til I see your answer...

Yeah, I have. There are plenty that use USB2 or FW400 to connect, but I can't find any that use FW800. Not all that surprising, but you never know.
 
FW is capable of daisy-chaining, isn't it? Not too many hubs to begin with... Not too many devices out there that are capable of putting a dent in the 400 spec anyway.
