Our President goes through cars like mad. had a 06 sl55, now a 07 XK he want to unload and buy something else.

He hates the negotiating and just wants to see a fair price and have the car delivered.

Anyone know decent places?

I know of autobytel, costco and sam's doing this but not sure on the model lines or how high they go up the food chain.

*Update* he went with the LS460...not much negotiation possible due to Moran's monopoly in the SE region on Toyota/Lexus...

It's a nice car.

Why negotiate? Just pay sticker price. Its no-haggle. Or try leasing.

Instead of buying relatively sedate cars, why not buy something exciting that will keep him occupied more than a year. I'll give him a part time job, where he can drive whatever he wants. He'll get bored of it real quick.

cars rarely go for sticker here. Almost all dealers have add-ons.

This is Garage...not off-topic. Can we get some serious answers?

If he can buy cars like that every year, he will have no problem paying whatever dealer adjustments are tacked onto the sticker.

The process doesn't have to involve some long, drawn out negotiation. Personally, I just look online at someplace like edmunds.com to see what others are paying, and what incentives, etc., are out there, figure a price I'm willing to pay, and then just contact a dealer, saying "I'm willing to pay $xx,xxx for this car with these features. Do we have a deal or not?". It's a simple yes or no question, and if there's a counter-offer or a no, I walk. Of course, this is easy to do in a major metro area where I've got at least 5 dealers for every major brand within an hour's drive. Salespeople around here know you can go somewhere else easily enough.

well even in Palm Beach you are pretty limited to how many Jag, Porsche, Mercedes dealers there are.

He is looking for a new car in the upper market segment. With many of these upper market cars the option lists are extensive. You can't just call up like you would a honda and say I want a EX with leather, power top and the 20" wheel for $xx out the door.

My credit union offers a buying service for cars. Tell them what you want and they go find a good deal on one for you. No haggle, and they deliver it to you. Last year, you also got a free cruise if you bought through their buying service.

Typically in the upper market segment, if you have to ask how much or haggle the price, you can't afford it.

That being said, a site like edmunds.com will give you a rough idea on the base model cost/invoice as well as popular options. It isn't too hard to come up with a "willing to pay price" to take to a dealer.

If that is too much hassle, then he is shopping in the wrong market segment or should just pay MSRP and be done with it.

These guys are mainly out of Chicago. But they do ship quite a bit.

I know they sell new cars, but not completely sure on brands. I think it's a no haggle deal on the brands they carry.

Used prices are also no haggled, but are VERY reasonable.

Uh, yes you can. You might need to rattle off a few more options, but you absolutely can do that.

We need to pause this thread. Go to CarsDirect.com and report back as to whether it suits your needs :)

I already sent him that link and autobytel...let him know about Sam's and Costco.

We will see. The guy isn't all saavy into options and the like. He wants to find a fair no-haggle place so he can sit down with a salesman and have them put it together.

why not? it's just a car...doesn't matter if it's $60k or $20k.

like I said some of these cars don't have clear options lists and what goes with what. On top of that some you just can't get totally how you want them. By handling it remotely you take the hard sale and bs out.

People get confused and often wonder how a Porsche at around $100k is so exclusive sometimes as a Ferrari going for a multiple. It doesn't take long with the options to get to double the car price (leather is sold a la carte. door panel, headliner, certain knobs/controls, etc).

The mini has a really big list of options for a cheaper car. That's why so many are selling more used that base's do new.

Every car sold in the US has an options list from the manufacturer. Like d33pt said, it's just a car. It doesn't matter if it's 20k or 350k. It is true that you may not be able to get them exactly like you want it, especially if you are looking at one of the rare brands.

They are rare for a reason. They only import so many to the US, and as the dollar has fallen, I'd bet so has the number of high end imports.

I might be getting ahead of myself though. What is he looking to buy? Jags, Porsches & Mercedes, for the most part, are pretty common cars.

Paying for add-ons, unless you wanted them, is one of the biggest "cons" of the automotive business. Be informed, don't be a sucker.

Basically what it sounds like is that your boss wants to be an uninformed consumer but not get ripped off at the same time. There isn't a car dealer out there that's going to give him exactly what he wants at the lowest price they can offer without haggling. On high end cars, basically you figure out what you want and order it, paying sticker, or you haggle. I'm really not sure what he's after otherwise. Does he want someone to consult him on the options he "should" get but also not charge him MSRP? That's going to be tough.

He is looking at the north end of 80-100k.

He wants to make it easy.
