Anyone know IR stuff?

I'm doing a little hardware mod with a computer case and an Xbox. I have a couple IR sensors I'll be using and I want to find some kind of material to put in front of it. One of the IR sensors had a bubble dome of transparent plastic; I don't know if IR requires some kind of special transparent material or if anything will do. Advice would be appreciated 🙂

IR = light but out of the range you can see. In theory, some materials that are translucent to visible light are transparent to IR, but in practice, just look for something that light will pass through. I'd advise testing first, of course...and anything you put over the sensor will attenuate the signal, so a dark filter might shorten your range.
