Anyone know if you can get a tooth shaved or trimmed?

One of my front teeth was chipped a long time ago and it actually chipped pretty nicely. (even with my other teeth) The other tooth is now longer and I was wondering if a dentist could fix it to match the others. Anyone know a rough price estimate if its possible?

No this is not a DIY thread. So no Dremel comments. 😀

Yes, they can do the trimming, and no it shouldn't be expensive. I had my cuspids trimmed several years ago, they protruded up a bit compared to the rest of my teeth.

Depends on the tooth and the root system as to how much they can trim it and everything...

but it's possible.

I just had my chipped premolars rounded off and I have no dental insurance. The guy was nice and charged $43 for half of an examination rather than $85 + $100 + $100.

Uninsured, typically there is an exam fee + they charge $100-$300 per mildly damaged teeth.

Extractions are $450 per tooth not including any novacaine.

I figured I would see if the vast knowledgeable ATOT could help me out before calling a dentist. 😉

Now looking at it closer, I may have chipped the big one too.

and so i did!

I've had my teeth ground before - I think the dentist said he was setting my occlusion (sp?). He ground down various teeth so that my bite would be even at all points.

I actually have about a 1cm over bite. This would just be more for aesthetics.

Thanks for the help people.
