I never paid attention to how MS does it, but other vendors usually jack up the price of the old releases to encourage purchases of the newest release.
Microsoft certainly isn't going to make it cheaper to buy XP than Vista. They might even entirely stop shipping retail versions, and you can bet places like Best Buy will stop selling it.
I thought it was (because now i have run into trouble installing new games and having retail game disks install properly) better than win xp professional ...and that was something like 249$ cdn.
After XP release..i see win2k pro selling for just over 250$ cdn (upgrades) 🙂
