Anyone know if they make a adapter so you can use a socket A heatsink on a socket 754?

I bought a Volcano 12 heatsink (for socket A) then decided to go with a different M/B using a socket 754. Does anyone know if anyone makes an adapter?

An adapter like that would be pretty handy. I have some Socket A heatsinks collecting dust that could be given a new life.

I imagine something could be made... but I think the cost to make it would render it more economical to just buy a new HS :)

For the cheaper coolers that'd be true, but for the more expensive ones; this would be a great alternative to buying a new one.

It'd be impossible, so far as I can imagine.
Completely different architecture.

Correction:

Impossible with any realistic amount of money :p

I suppose you could make your own mounting system if your motherboard has mounting holes. Just remove the socket A clip and put in a bar with holes drilled in it where the mounting holes are.

I have never seen an adapter that will allow you to mount a Socket 462 H/S to a Socket 754 processor Brutuskend. :(

I did a decent search Brutus, it doesn't look good. Did you ask your followers in OT ;)

Given what you are very skilled at, have you considered making your own adapter ?
I don't even know what a Volcano 12 looks like but for a fellow old fart I offer a deal.
PM me if your interested in buying a brand new Zalman 7000 Cu/Al for real cheap.
It was bought two years ago and never installed.

Even if your not interested in the above, consider selling or returning the Socket A cooler
and buying a HSF that is upward compatable. Wish I could be of more help to a fine member.

Thanks!
I could probably make one but I would hate to screw it up and fry a CPU though. I did that sometime back with a homemade shim...

How much would you be asking for the cooler you have. :)
