Anyone know if my Canon S200 can handle a 256 CF card?

Maybe not.

Powershot.com says: Storage Media CompactFlash (CF) Card Type I

But in their table of how many files will fit on a card it only goes up to 128MB. I have this camera but I'm at work and don't have the manual around to check.

A lot of times, the biggest available size was 128 when the manual was printed, the cam may recognize larger cards, may not.

Unless there is a specific incompatibility with your device, CF cards have their controller on the card instead of on the card reader so you should be able to use a 1GB CF card if you wanted to.

With Compact Flash, the BIOS is on the card, not in the camera, so any CF device can take any Type I CF Card. An S200 can take a 256 MB card without a hiccup.

The difference is that your Fuji uses SmartMedia. As I said above, the CF BIOS is on the card, whereas Smartmedia's BIOS is in the device (in this case the camera). This is why CF is inherently a somewhat more flexible medium - if the card will physically fit in the device, it will work.
