I know this isn't quite the right place to post this, but I think this topic would do a bit better here because I doubt the people who would use this software, frequent the software forum.

My dad uses a older version of Medisoft and he is completely computer illiterate, except for that single piece of software. A couple of days ago, his computer simply wouldn't boot past the animation, and after some tinkering by me, I learned it was a extremely annoying problem on vista that had no real solution to it.

I ended up booting into a LIVE cd and pulling as much data as I could that related to Medisoft into a flash drive and reformatted.

However, I can't seem to get Medisoft to accept my recopied pasted information into normal directory. I've tinkered around, and I simply cannot figure it out.

If there is anyone who has experience with this software, please help. Thanks.

What do you mean by this? Is it user data, or program files? If it's user data, you could try storing some new BS data to the appropriate directory to "prime" the system. If it's program data, I don't know. That can be tough without knowing where everything was in the first place.

It's user data. The problem is that, it wasn't stored in some form that I could recognize that it was user data, so I literally copied and pasted every single file that I could find related to medisoft.

I put them back in the directories I got them from after the reinstall, but no dice

Was there data in the hidden App Data directory? If so, and you didn't copy it over, that could cause problems accessing the visible data in the "standard" directory.

Did you reinstall the Advantage database too? I don't work with Medisoft a whole lot, but I remember that there's a custom database that needs to be running on a server - on a network install, anyway.

I wish it was on a network because it means it would probably have backups.

And I don't think there was anything in the App Data folder, because i don't seem to remember anything interesting being there when I was poking around it.
