I have my monitor brightness turned all the way up and the brightness option in the game turned to the max and it's still to dark. I know it is suppose to be somewhat of a dark game but I can't see crap. it's almost to the point of being unplayable. I know there is a way to do it with quake 3 so their must be a tweak I can run in the console or something to turn it up abit. any help would be greatly appreciated..

hmm that's odd. I see fine in the game, and I actually run my monitor on the dark side.

Go to your display properties (control panel- Display- Settings- Advanced) and go to the 'Color" tab. Increase your gamma / brightness until you are satisfied with the result. This however will make your normal windows seen whitewashed so you may have to get used to changing it back and forth.

If you have a display icon in the task bar, click on it and go to the properties. That saves you having to go to control panel-bla bla.

Turning up the monitor brightness won't do it. Its the gamma that does it for me.

Thanks I will try that when I get home. I like a little darkness too but when your getting hacked at by a zombie and you don't even know which way to turn it gets a little frustrating...

Entering "r_gamma 1" in Quake 3 did the trick, and checking the "r_gamma" command in Wolf shows a default value of 1.3. Try playing with a higher/lower value of that variable, maybe. As I remember it "r_gamma" was put in to fix the way some nVidia cards would ignore software gamma settings? Tell us if it works out.

There are two ways to do it:

(1) Use nVidia's driver control panel to raise the gamma before you launch the game.
(2) Type /r_ignorehwgamma 0 in the console and then raise the brightness in the game.

Note that option 1 is preferable as option 2 throws the entire game gamma out of whack and the game doesn't look like it should.

I keep the brightness on my monitor at 50%. However, when the sun is shining and I'm awake to play ;), I have to crank the brightness up to about 80% to be able to see anything on the screen in this game. I wish there was a simple gamma setting in game.
