Anyone Know How to Take Off a Golden Orb? People with Experience Plz Help!

Did a search and didn't see anything on this...

Just bought an Alpha PAL6035 for my T-bird. Currently I have an Golden Orb for SocketA on it. I need to take it off but don't know what's the best way to do it...

People who have done it before...please help! The thing is so tightly attached on there! What kind of tools did you use? And what should I be careful about so I don't break the CPU and my Asus A7V board?

Any links would be appreciated also!

Thanks a lot!

p.s. Also, any advice on how to attach the Alpha PAL6035 (with revised clip) onto the T-bird?

Yeah, GideonX is right. There really is only 1 way to take it out properly, and that's to twist it. You can't avoid it unless you hacksaw the heatsink off or something. Gotta go slow...good luck!

TWIST?!?!?.. bad idea... If you have a socket a (with the non-twisting clip)gorb and try to twist, u'd prolly rip the plastic prongs right off the motherboard. Get a pair of pliers and CAREFULLY pry it off. And if you really don't want the Gorb anymore, just cut the clip(probably the safest way since they're on so tight). Just remember to be careful, don't want to crush your tbird.
