anyone know how to solder cat5 and IDE together

i need to extend some IDE cable a long way, and i have heard you can solder cat5 cable between the connectors... anoyone know how to do this? thanks

edit: yes i know a 6 foot limit is recommended...
 
Scsi is 6 ft, Ide is actually 24" foot (UDMA66+) or 36" (Pio-UDMA33), I dont think you are going to be going very far...
