Would help tremendously..
Are you using any sort of refresh-rate fix program right now?
Btw, I would advise against disabling vsync for any reason. It causes choppy video and tearing. Not to friendly on the eyes.

vsync is up to you...try it with it on and without...

unfortunately, it has nothing whatsoever to do with your monitor's refresh rate.
win2k and XP have a problem where they set your refresh rate to 60 in some games.

there are registry fixes and there are also programs that will stop this

here's a link to a page that tells you how to edit your registry:
http://www.earthv.com/tips_detail.asp?TipID=62

if that's too complicated or you just want a program, just do a google search...you'll find it

Go into the advanced video properties.
Displays->Monitor
uncheck use ddc information and set the refresh override to whatever your monitor takes

EDIT: my bad i think this only works for direct3d games

Actually, depending on your monitor you may need to do that anyway(I had to with my R9500Pro to get my monitor above 60Hz for anything). After you do that though, download an application like ReForce and use it to force your monitor to always use a decent refresh rate, either that or you can edit the registry and remove all the low refresh rate options for your monitor(I would reccomend installing your monitor drivers prior to either of those if you haven't already, that way you won't end up removing all of the refresh rates that actually work- ie you don't want you monitor to try and run 200Hz @1920x1440).

hmm i get that service unavailable thing now too...
when i posted the link, it was working :\

either way, take GonzoDaGr8's advice and just go to www.guru3d.com and get one of the utilities there...that's the site i couldn't think of.

the utilities let you force your monitor to use a minimum refresh rate.
like i said though...win2k/xp both default to 60 unless you override it somehow.

and just changing your refresh rate for windows won't matter....i mean...it changes it in windows, but if it's defaulting to 60Hz for games, changing it in your display properties won't fix it...you need to change the registry (which is what those utilities do for you)

Ok. I got refresh force. But it is telling me that I have a default monitor in settings and this may screw things up. Then to make sure I have the right monitor installed.

However I DO have my monitor installed, but it shows both my monitor, AND default monitor. How do I get rid of default monitor?

Default monitor is referring to your second monitor out on the video card. I don't think you really need to worry about it so long as the Primary says your monitor.

You are not running dual monitors I assume? Go in to Device Manager and remove the default display adapter, that should take care of your problem.
