You need a 3rd party fax software, unless your modem came with one.

There are MANY choices for fax programs, depending of how elaborate of a fax program you need. I use Mighty Fax and like it's simplistic approach. to send a fax I click the "print" button and choose the "mighty fax" driver instead of the print driver. Works great.
