Anyone know how to remove a PIF virus?

I was trying to remove a virus from a computer today. Someone received an e-mail and opened the attached TEXT.TXT.pif file. Since doing that, the machine freezes at constant, three-minute intervals. Any ideas?

Depends on which virus it is.

It is probably w32.sobig.

I am not sure. I only know that name of the attachment above. I have NAV 2004, so I booted off of it and am running a scan. The scan is still ongoing.
