I am trying to replace the headlights on my 1996 Camry LE. I lost the manual a while back so I remove the two clips that connect the cover to the back of the headlight and I thought you could just pry it open but it doesn't budge. So what else do I have to do?

STOP!

GET HELP. YOU WILL RUIN THE HEADLIGHT REFLECTOR/LENS ASSEMBLY, WHICH GENERALLY COSTS OVER $100!

OK, now that you understand, I will tell you that the bulb is replaced from behind the reflector. Did you buy a replacement yet? If so, what was the part number? (9003, H2, etc.)

My girlfriend has same model and year. The right lens droops so I thought I'd adjust it. Turns out there is something underneath (white plastic part) the left light has but not under the right one. I wonder if it is some sort of support bracket. I'm going to go to an autoparts store this weekend to see if they have a helms book for the car.

But yes, Thegonagle is right. All you need to do is unsnap (carefully) the light plug in back of the lamp fixture to get at and replace the lightbulb. The lowest price for another headlamp is $127. And that is one the web. Somebody local will prolly want to charge you $200 or so.

On the 9006, it looks like you need to turn a plastic collar to ?unlock? the bulb. Then you just pull it straight out.

Don?t touch the glass on the new bulb, or your fingerprints could cause it to crack shortly after you turn it on. If you?ve already touched the glass, clean it off with some isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) and a paper towel.

Make sure you have the new bulb positioned correctly before you lock the collar back in place, or the bulb could slip out of position and melt the housing. (When it?s correctly positioned, the collar should turn easily and ?click? back into the locked position. If it doesn?t, don?t force it, or you could crack the collar and you?ll need to buy a new one at the dealership.)

Then, reattach the wire harness, reposition any protective rubber cover, test it out quick, and you?re done.

P.S. Try to get those metal clips back in place, so that the seal/adhesive between the reflector and the lens doesn't come undone over time.
