anyone know how to play a lan game with someone over the internet?

My roomates and I are playing rise of nations over the school LAN. Is there a way (some program) for someone to connect to our lan from outside campus?

I am being overly simple here, but wouldn't you just give the outsider who wants to connect the IP address or are you dealing with some firewall issues?

I use a program called BattleLAN. You add their internet IP to yours and you can connect two LANs over the internet.
