My Canon A700 camera has one of those automatic lens covers that slide open and shut when you turn the camera on/off.
They wont shut by themselves anymore, or actually one side wont. It gets jammed up and I have to use my fingernail to sort of flick an edge of it and then it slides into place.
I am convinced if I could just open up this lens housing I could brush it off or clean it up a bit and it will work like normal again. Probably just some sand or other gunk that is causing a problem.
But I am not sure how to remove this housing around the lens. The only intuitive part is removing this trim, a plastic ring which wraps around everything that you push a button to release. But beyond that I am not sure how to proceed.
What comes out next and how? Is there some instruction manual on removing this lens ?
Or would you say it's just too delicate or complicated that it's better to take it to some camera repair shop?
