Anyone know how to make a telemarketer stop calling your cell?

They call every day and ask for someone who may have had the # in the past. We tell them every time "This isn't his phone #, stop calling. This is a cell phone take the # out of your database." They respond with "Do you know him? This isn't a sales call. Ok we will fix it." They call twice a day, every day
:( When we called the 1-800 back to try to get them to stop they answered as some career center.

It doesn't sound like a telemarketer. If it is a career center, it is probably a temp agency that has his number on file. Call the career center back, give them the name of the person they are trying to contact, and tell them to remove the number from their database of contacts.

Tell them his number changed, make up a new one, and hope they annoy someone else in the future.

The next time they call tell them you're a serial killer, and they're your next victim.

We have told them each time they call that he doesn't have this # and called them back to tell them to remove the # from their list. They are out of state so I don't think its a temp agency unless cricket shuffles phone #'s from state to state. I think I'm gonna start to F with 'em.

Call them and ask for the number for the <think of something> department. Then call back and thank them for all the calls, suggest that they call you more often, and mention that you changed your number to <the number they just gave you>? No seriously, if you're in the US give www.donotcall.gov a click.

Send them a bill for you cellular minutes they used since they refuse to stop calling. When their accounting dept. calls back asking about the bill, explain it to them.

Start keeping track of everytime they call, the company name and the person you spoke to. If they keep doing it despite your asking them to remove the number from their database make a complaint to the FTC.

its probably a collection agency... same deal happened with some friends at college. the guy with the debt moved out, but the collectors still called daily, even after telling them that he had moved out. they eventually had their phone number switched...

i'd found an effective way to get rid of them
use a 56k modem in your computer and if not buy one real cheap, run hyperterminal then put it in answer mode.
it will pick up after 1 ring, telemarketer will get zapped.

Working petty good, now I get no call. Kewl right?

your point? get a life.

I'm not the guy setting up a 56k modem to answer all your calls. Does no one else but telemarketers call you?

you gotta be kidding me, they have more time to talk crap with you then you with them.
if you waste their time you waste yours as well, so what is the point? the problems is that 90 percent of the time when I pick up it goes *click* when it ring, it rings up to 7 times before it stop and every 15min to an hour after that, 24hrs a day. I nap during the day for couple of hours so the noise is enough to even wake up the deads. i dont like to be disturbed, better to have the computer on 24hrs day making a little noise that I can tolerate to answer call, making those "ding ding ding dee" that tricks them into thinking it's a bbs, serves them right.
