Well guys my nokia 6800 is getting old and i want to upgrade to a new phone from cingular. I like the service I get from cingular so want to keep with the company. I have been out of my contract for a long time so the actual being in contract isnt an issue. I was wondering how I could get in on the free after rebate deals on some of the new mp3 phones like the rokr or the erricson ones? Can i just get one from amazon with a new contract?

Have you spoken with a Cingular csr yet? I would assume they would know better than anyone else.

That was a Best Buy csr. Speak to a Cingular csr, and don't be afraid to "threaten" to switch service providers if necessary.

You should be eligible for an "upgrade" deal. They're not exactly free, but pretty close, I think they give you a $100.00 credit towards a new phone if you re-sign.

Have a family member who is not using Cingular now sign up. I'm actually on T-mobile and I'm looking for a new phone as well. The w600 (?) is nicely feature-packed (ugly orange though) and free, but requires a 2-year contract from Cingular and it'll be a while before it can be easily unlocked.

I actually hate Cingular and would like to stay on T-mobile, but the best free phone I can get is probably the Razr.

i'm not sure how cingular works, but with verizon, you can get the same rebates if you just sign a new contract, even if it's for the plan you're currently on... even if that plan is an old "grandfathered" plan, you still get the same plan, just longer

In my location im one of the few people that never has any problems with my phone or service. If I were to switch to another provider i think it would be sprint.
