Anyone know how to get a divx avi to play

I can get it to play through windows media player (downloaded and installed codec) but I can't get the software that came with my DVD drive (encore 6x/creative) to play it. Is there a way to get it to play divx movies, or is there another software program that can, and will take advantage of my decoder card's TV-out. Its a Dxr3 if it matters.

Sorry, but you are out of luck. The Dxr3 (and H+) will only output mpeg video through their TV-outs. There is no way to get any DVD player program to use the Divx codec, and no other program to get the decoder card's TV-out to display anything else. I looked into this in excruciatingly painful detail, so I decided to get an ATi Rage Fury card w/TV-out instead of an H+ setup.

to play avi video files encoded with the DivX codec you need to d/l this program DivX codecs
unzip
install and
run the setup program

and make sure you use media player 6.4
7 messes up DivX movies playback
