Anyone know how to get 2 machines talking via CAT 5 Crossover Cable

Connected laptop with desktop machine via CAT 5 crossover. Are the computers "smart enough" to know they are hooked together?

Both machines use Win XP Home. Trying to copy folders to laptop for Backup prior to wipe and reformat on Desktop.

PLEASE HELP.

Use the Networking forum for setting up the connection. Best bet for a quick solution is use the network wizard in xp. You may have to share the hard drive after that, I don't remember if the wizard will set that up for you...
