I cleaned up some boat parts with gasoline (to cut grease), but I have never found anything to cut the smell of gasoline from hands very well. I've been looking for years, but not too many soaps or anything does. Anyone know of anything?

this works:

scrub your hands with baby oil and sugar (mixed). Then wash with soap and water.

Trust me...it works.

Man you guys post incredibly quick.

I'm gonna go try that. If it works, I'll be pretty amazed.

hand cleaners like GoJo

We used to keep some around, but I never found that it cut it all the way.

But.. But... WHY??!? :D

I have a big 5 gallon container of 200 proof alcohol I use for degreasing stuff now.. gasoline still leaves a film.

Well next time you use gas to clean parts with, try striking a match
it will get rid of that gas smell fast by removing several layers of skin ;)

Lite a match and let it burn off or use lava then orange hand cleaner. (Lava is a high strength hand cleaner found at most hardware stores. and the orange hand cleaner will get rid of the rest.)

200proof? I thought that was a controlled substance (if it's ethanol)?

I have no idea why I didn't mention it, but yes.. Lava brand soap is a mechanic's green savior. ;)

Nope, not at all.. Hell, you can get 200 proof alcohol meant for consumption(in some states). The alcohol I have is for industrial use, and is denatured.

Yeah, it's ethanol.. I forget what it's denatured with, some ketone I believe.

A match will get rid of the vapors, but your hands will proably be discolored in nasty shades of red and black. :Q

I got most of the smell off with a type of orange cleaner I had. It was actually designed for kitchen use, but it worked fine.
