Anyone know how to convert a DVD so it can play in PowerPoint?

We put together DVD's during the year and would like an easier way to play them through PowerPoint rather than stopping it, switching to a new window and playing the DVD.

Anyone know a way to convert to something Powerpoint can just play in a slide?

Thanks

If Powerpoint can play embedded vod files, you could copy the files off the DVD and embed the correct file in a slideshow. Otherwise, you'll need to convert the DVD to a media format that Powerpoint understands (probably .avi, .mpeg or .wmv). That can be a hassle though, and you might need to spring for video editing software, which can get pricey (Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere definitely have the ability to do this, but they cost in excess of $500.00).

I don't know of an "easy" way to do this, but I haven't used Powerpoint since I left school, so I'm rusty.

I had looked to convert the dvd to an avi or mpg, but most of the tools that were free are shut down now and the rest need to be bought and I am not sure which I need totally or what would be a one-stop shop.

Do you need to convert the entire DVD or just specific chapters/scenes? You might be able to find a free program fairly easily that will convert whole DVDs to wmv or avi (virtualdub might have that capability, and it's easy to use). Most free stuff probably won't let you take specific scenes and convert them, so if you want to take a specific section, you may need to invest in video editing software.

A quick Google search turns up some results that may work for you: http://www.google.com/search?c...pera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

I didn't think to go to WMV, seems a lot of stuff is out there for that...I will see if anything works tomorrow.
