Anyone know how to build this system?

I have a client who wants the following:

A system that is a register (cash register, that is), that can schedule appointments, run inventory, etc...We want the monitor to be mounted on a swing arm on the wall and very beautiful and state of the art.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to build this system, and what hardware and software I will need?
