Anyone know how much tempered glass costs?

Like the kind they use for sliding glass doors on a display case. I'll need two pieces of 1/4" tempered glass, each piece approximately 42" long x 28" high. I'll also need the tracks that they slide on.

I called the local glass company, but they have a 20-year old bimbo that answers the phone and she keeps asking me "what company are you from?" I explain to her that I"m a "private citizen" looking to purchase two pieces of glass...she keeps sending me to some corporate sales persons' voice mail. Dummy.

Anyone know how much this would run?

I'm in the market to buy some tempered glass as well for a desktop. I'll let you know what kind of price quote I get. As far as the girl asking you for a company name.....when a place does that to me I always tell them I'm from Bitchslappers Inc. usually confuses them enough that they just let you talk to whoever you REALLY want to.

Thanks, Shinerburke. I'd appreciate that. BTW, I got a kick out of your "who want to marry Eakers thread." :)

Got some prices......don't know how different the prices would be in your area.

1/4 inch think tempered glass is $8.25 per square foot here.

Glad you liked my eakers thread....some people need to pull their thumbs out of their asses and learn how to have some fun.

Agreed on the anal-retentive issue. After all, if you crave attention, you must be prepared to receive attention, right? ;)

About the glass; ouch:( Basically, I need a slightly bigger than a 7-foot x 2 foot piece, cut in half. 2 x 7 is 14. So, 14 x $8.25 = $115.50 plus the tracks, plus tax. I'll need to find out exactly how much they'd charge.

That's not too bad though, considering an equivalent piece of .25 inch plexiglass is $87 at Home Depot. Glass is much better as it doesn't scratch as easily, nor does it get "foggy" over time.

Thanks Bud. Have a good day. :)

No problem man...good luck...

It is a bit pricey....I'm buying a piece 8ft x 29 inches to put on top of a desk I just built....
