If you have to pay somebody then turn in that man card.

I'm all for paying somebody to do the dirty work, but we're talking a mailbox here.
AW COME ON! I don't WANNA!

(Yeah, I went overboard there with the whining. I'll turn in my card now.)

Ok I'll stop berating you on the strength of my not really caring.

If you're gonna do it yourself, good for you, if not then well.... ok. Like I said I don't care.

Either way, I think you need a nap.

Not true. Of my 4 best friends that live in the city with me, 3 of them exercise and lift regularly like myself, and one is the laziest man I've ever met in my life. I'm a mix of the two. The others are very active.

New question: how much would it be to get it painted? Do I have to get a specific finish if I want it painted?

Right.

[edit]

I forgot , I stopped caring.

You should pay someone one hundred million dollars to do it!

I have no reason to lie. A) I'm posting on the internet to people that don't know me. B) I already admitted I'm too lazy to install a mailbox myself.

Much costlier than you'd think, due to stringent postal regulations. The actual paint they must use is German, and cost upwards of twelve dollars an ounce. That right, an ounce.

I see by your profile you're from Alabama. Bad news, that's too near to Louisiana on a national scale, so most USPS certified postal box painters in your neck of the woods have now flocked to New Orleans for the really big bucks.

. . . Not that a certified "hue applier" (it's the correct techinical term for these specialists) is cheap in the best of times, but I'm sure you know and understand that by now.

Count on a strict minimum of $300 labor and material, with a four week waiting period. You've applied for all the state and federal permits already, I assume. . .

Number one, the ground isn't frozen, dig it yourself. I live in MI, we have about 6 inches of the white stuff down right now, and the ground still isn't frozen.

Number two, buy yourself some damn cheap stencils from Home Depot/Lowes and some paint (ask the guys in the paint dept. what type) and paint the thing yourself.

Holy crap some people are lazy!

For the paint, it's about the look of the thing. I'd like it to look good, and I'd screw it up if I did it myself. I'm actually not being lazy here.

Nice. I give you points for at least putting that much effort into it.
