My parents want a new mailbox installed, and I was curious how much that would cost to see if my brother and sister could just go in with me on it or if they should get something different.

EDIT: Sorry, I'll be more specific.

Post + Box
Metal Pole
Concrete

I found the box and pole at Lowes.com for ~$130 for the pair. How much do you think it would be for installation? I'm not fvcking digging in the middle of winter, fvck that.

EDIT 2:New question: how much would it be to get it painted? Do I have to get a specific finish if I want it painted? I found one with a powder-coated outside. That can be painted, correct?

I just need the last name painted on there.

the post? or just the box?

you can get a new box at walmart for $5-$10 and put it on the existing post in 5 minutes with a screwdriver

if you need to put in a new post, like digging and pouring concrete etc etc etc , then it is a bigger job

Umm...mailbox + post + screws + sledgehammer = cheap? Boxes run like $20+, the rest should be easy to get, just slam it into the ground or screw it to the house.

Still something someone could easily do without paying someone to do it... you'd probably have to pay $50+ to get someone to put the pole in for you.

It's a mailbox.
Digging a hole in solid, frozen ground =/= fun

Which is exactly what a fencing guy is going to say, who are the cheapest people who will do it for you because they already have all the equipment.

1. Borrow posthole digger from someone.
2. Dig hole.
3. Insert post.
4. Pour in concrete mix.
5. Level post.
6. Pour a gallon or two of water over concrete in hole.
7. ............
8. Profit.

dude, just do it yourself.

If you have to pay somebody then turn in that man card.

I'm all for paying somebody to do the dirty work, but we're talking a mailbox here.

I would guesstimate 1 hour labor at 60 bucks/hr = 60 bucks.

Yeah just do it yourself if you can. I remember DirecTV wanted like 150 bucks to put a pole in the ground to mount the dish for us. Eff that, hello Dish Network.

Also a little exercise never hurts, and it's not difficult.

Might I add that it's not that I CAN'T do this, I'm just curious what it would cost to pay someone to install it. Who do you even call? The local mailbox installer?

OF COURSE! Sorry, I'm a little slow tonight. Just couldn't think of who I'd call.

1. Pour gasoline on the ground.
2. Drop a match
3. Dig.

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

Get a bucket. Fill it with concrete. Put the pole in that. Wait until it's warm out to dig the dang hole.

I already exercise every day, I'm just incredibly lazy OUTSIDE of that. ;)

Shens.

As someone who excersizes regularly. and associates with people who do the same, excersize is just the beginning of an active lifestyle.

If you really excersize regularly you'd have no problem doing this.
